Please read the following policy thoroughly before making contact about the purchase of any of our goats.

Sales and Reservation Policy

Reservations:  Irish Roots Acres maintains a list to reserve kids.  To reserve kid(s), the prospective buyer must submit their name and email address to be placed on the list.  No deposits are taken on kids until they are born and determined by Irish Roots Acres to be healthy.  The first person on the reservation list will then be notified and must respond within 48 hours of the email being sent.  If no response is made within 48 hours or the potential buyer does not wish to retain the kid, then the next person on the reservation list will be notified.  A deposit to hold the kid will be required within one week of a purchase agreement.  A deposit of $50 for a buck kid and $100 for a doe kid will hold an animal for 30 days in which the buyer must arrange for pickup or transport. 

Deposits:  A goat is not sold until a deposit is received to hold it.  Deposits shall be in the amount of $50.00 for bucks, and $100.00 for does.  This deposit will hold the animal for 30 days in which the buyer must arrange pickup or transport.  Animals not picked up within the 30 day period may incur a $2.00 per day boarding fee. After 45 days, the animal will be placed back on our sales list, and any monies paid toward that animal will be forfeited by the buyer. All deposits are NONREFUNDABLE, except for illness or death of the kid.  In that instance, the deposit may be directed toward another kid or refunded, at the discretion of Irish Roots Acres.  We reserve the right to cancel any sale(s) of an animal(s) if we deem necessary for the well being of that animal. In the event we do cancel the sale of an animal(s) for any reason, we will refund monies paid in on the cost of the animal(s) minus the original deposit and care and upkeep, as deposits are non-refundable.  All sales are made on a first come first serve basis unless a reservation has been made.  Keeping buck kids intact out of first fresheners will be determined by the quality of the dam's udder after kidding.  Pregnant does will not travel during their last 6 weeks of pregnancy.

Sales/Payment:  Personal checks and Pay Pal are accepted only on deposits or if the animal is paid for in full at least two weeks before pickup.  Cash is required if animal is paid for at pickup.  No exceptions!   All sales are final.  We cannot guarantee the care a goat will be given once it leaves our farm and we accept no returns.

Pickup/Transport:  Kids are weaned and ready for pickup or transport at approximately 8-10 weeks of age.  They will have at least their first worming, hoof trimming and be tattooed prior to pickup.  Veterinary health certificates (optional, but required by law for interstate travel) and fees charged by the Veterinarian for the farm call and animal examination and/or tests are the responsibility of the purchaser.

GUARANTEE

We sell animals that are healthy and sound at the time of transfer.  We cannot guarantee that they will mature as you or we would expect.  We cannot guarantee their mature conformation, stature, udder attachment, show ability, quality of their offspring, etc.  There are many factors involved in the development of an animal including feeding, health care maintenance, parasite control, housing, breeding, stress, etc.  We cannot take responsibility for how a kid you purchase from us ultimately matures.  

We do not guarantee that a purchaser will like an animal they purchase from us. An animal represents a genetic package. We are not under obligation to take any animal back once it has left the property. 

If a buyer wants to see an animal before purchase, s/he may come to the farm and choose the animal. For long-distance purchases we will do our best to realistically represent the animal with photos and descriptions. All sales are final.

Adult does and bucks that are sold as "proven" means they have produced for us here at Irish Roots Acres.  That is the extent of our guarantee as there is no way we can guarantee what they may do when they leave here.  Because we cannot guarantee the care given to the animals once they leave our farm, no refund or replacement will be offered unless a certified Veterinarian statement or Necropsy report states that the animal was unhealthy because of a genetic problem or circumstances that could only be caused before the buyer had taken possession of the animal, including infertility, unless the animal was sold as pet quality or wethered.  

Any illness or injury attributed to buyer care or lack thereof will not warrant return of purchase price or replacement of animal.  Any cost associated with replacement of animal, such as shipping & health certificate, will be the responsibility of buyer.

We do not guarantee the fertility of does unless hermaphroditism becomes apparent as the animal matures.  A doe sold as bred is not guaranteed to be pregnant, just that she received normal service from the buck.

We do not guarantee any animal that is sold without registration papers.

We follow the ADGA Recommended Trade Practices for Members (section XIX in the ADGA Guidebook).

Any further guarantees are neither expressed nor implied.  We have no idea what sort of care or treatment our goats receive once they leave our possession, therefore you are responsible for their health and well being.  We love our animals and hope you will, too.

Irish Roots Acres reserves the right to retain any kids born on our farm at any time.

A single goat does not do well. Therefore, if you do not currently own goats, we will only sell a goat if you also purchase a companion goat.

Goats need other goats. Please, as buyers, be up-front and honest with us. We want good, happy and stable homes for our goats. :) Thanks! We reserve the right to not sell a goat to anyone for any reason.​
